The Stack has been defeated!

I just got off the phone with Tink. She has conquered The Stack!! I am very proud of her for successfully making it through the insane class load my alma mater threw at her this semester. She is now facing an onslaught of whiny student emails very similar to what Owen The Reader discussed in his comment on yesterday's post. I have advised her to ignore them and instead of thinking about all the negative ratings she might get on ratemyprofessor.com, she should remember the student who failed this semester but likes her enough he wants to retake MB's class next semester. I don't know of a bigger sign of a professor's popularity among students. :)

Mary Beth is celebrating her accomplishment by watching a RiffTrax while she packs her bags. Tomorrow she heads to Ohio for some quality time with Jim The Small Child Nephew and Will The Baby Nephew.

For those of you wondering about my status here in The Nation's Capital, I am happy to report that things couldn't be better. I tell MB all the time that the only piece of the puzzle missing right now in my life is her, and that will be solved in exactly seven months. I have three awesome roommates (pic below). They love to grill out and they share their steaks! We live in a nice townhouse only three miles from my ATC facility. It's a wonderful change from the 30-45 minute commutes I experienced in The Swamp.

Only two more weeks until I see my bride-to-be at: josh_hunter04@yahoo.com

Wow. I limped to the screen to cobble together a few broken sentences about how The Stack left me in bloody, trembly ribbons, and what do I find? My fiance did my work for me, without me even asking. This is a man who knows EXACTLY what type of gifts his lady likes. I'm just going to pretend he didn't type excitedly about how his roommates share their meat. I'm going to bed and dream of my wonderful groom.

Uh . . . I got nothing that tops that.

I'll get you next time, Gadget. NEXT TIIIIIIIIIME!

I just hope that when josh sees his bride-to-be in two weeks, she has the top of her head back. If not, my number 1 suspect would be sean casey; they used to have a thing, josh, if you didn't know.

Thanks Anon, I'm very aware of it. We have a deal where I accept her thing with Sean Casey and she accepts my thing with Jeff Gordon. :) #24 rules!

OMG, my oink is contagious!! Run! Run for your lives!

I'm with you, Mike. I've got nothing. In fact, even I am grossed out now.

Thanks so much for that picture of your meat. Oy. It'll be weeks before that nightmare leaves me.

I always knew the RACK was mightier than the STACK!

You know us pigs, JTP: we always come in 3s ;-)

JTP,

I liked you until you admitted that you have a thing for Jeff Gordon.....MB, how do you put up with that?! JG is a midget with a high voice that whines a lot. Oh, did I mention the part that he was cheating on his wife WHILE going on about how religious he was?! The only good part about that is that she took him for all he was worth. Stupid, stupid man. Oh, and yes, I do feel strongly about this!

personally, josh, i dunno if i have a bigger issue with the fact that you have a THING with jeff gordon, or that you have a thing with JEFF GORDON!!! i know mb doesn't want this blog to turn into a nascar holy war, but you must realize that gordon cant carry tony's fire retardant mask! anyway, congrats on the engagement, the new job, and the enormous meat

Let me put an end to this: I have a thing for Jeff Gordon, race car driver. I admire his talent and respect his on-track accomplishments. That doesn't mean I approve of what he does off the track. I've heard all the stories. I've even met a girl who claimed he tried to take her to bed while married to Brooke. I certainly do not think his latest marriage will last long at all. All this does not prevent me from cheering for him at the races, much like how I don't approve of many actors political statements, but I still go watch their movies. I pick favorite celebrities based on their professional lives, not their personal ones. The main difference between me and a lot of people is I don't look to celebrities to be role models for conducting personal, everyday life. So, I like Jeff as a driver, but that's it.

Aw, man, am I going to have to add Jeff Gordon to the Iraq war and abortion as prohibited topics in the comments?

Well, at least now I know that Josh's thing with Gordon is purely physical. That helps.

After hearing all this about midgety Jeff I am semi-ashamed to live somewhat close to his home town in Indiana.
Sorta.
He is kind of fast tho...that counts in racing right?
~VRM (not to be confused with the sound effect "vrrooooommmm" which could be a)the sound of JG's race car speeding by or b) the sound of JG homing in on a hottie while his wife is "being pretty" elsewhere.)

You're new to the whole NASCAR thing. If you had more experience with passionate fans of one particular driver, you would have put Jeff Gordon on the banned list of comment topics already.

I feel like starting a NASCAR riot...

Some people hope that they can change certain things about their fiance through matrimony. I've heard it said that it is "the little things" about a person that cause you to love them. As boring as I find watching cars drive around a little circle, NASCAR is one of those "little things" about JTP. MB, you're not allowed to change that about him. =)

ROFL @ Mike's comments about the meat.

I am glad you guys are doing well.

I do think that JTP doth protest a little much about Jeff-ro Gordon. With the meat comment and his uber Fergalicious roommates...I'm just sayin'

No worries, sc, I won't disturb his love of NASCAR as long as he indulges my figure skating and horseback riding habits :)
