Forever Jung

As a flaming INFP (somewhere out there in this wide Meyers-Briggs world is a brunette ESTJ accountant, just waiting for us to meet so that the anti-matter explosion that will doubtless result can bring about the apocalypse) every now and then I seek out further definitions of The Wonder That Is Me. I've been told that INPF's are, thankfully, the rarest personality form, only about 1% of the population. It's fascinating. Also, I'm running out of excuses.

Here's the latest one in full, reprinted without deletion, addition, or explanation:

creative, smart, idealist, loner, attracted to sad things, disorganized, avoidant, can be overwhelmed by unpleasant feelings, prone to quitting, prone to feelings of loneliness, ambivalent of the rules, solitary, daydreams about people to maintain a sense of closeness, focus on fantasies, acts without planning, low self confidence, emotionally moody, can feel defective, prone to lateness, likes esoteric things, wounded at the core, feels shame, frequently losing things, prone to sadness, prone to dreaming about a rescuer, disorderly, observer, easily distracted, does not like crowds, can act without thinking, private, can feel uncomfortable around others, familiar with the darkside, hermit, more likely to support marijuana legalization, can sabotage self, likes the rain, sometimes can't control fearful thoughts, prone to crying, prone to regret, attracted to the counter culture, can be submissive, prone to feeling discouraged, frequently second guesses self, not punctual, not always prepared, can feel victimized, prone to confusion, prone to irresponsibility, can be pessimistic
People who have had the vast misfortune to deal with me on an in-person basis, if they made it even one-quarter of the way thorough that list, have already opened a separate screen to email me with the suggestion that I have this entire paragraph printed up on small, laminated cards to hand out to new acquaintances for their own protection.

You'll notice that the traits list mentions lateness twice, and I am thinking this may or may not have something to do with the "more likely to support marijuana legalization" indicator. Then again, look at that-- "prone to crying... familiar with the darkside...can be overwhelmed by unpleasant feelings... can sabotage self." No wonder INFP's constantly need to do the dew.

but only in the rain, we like the rain, apparently, at: mbe@drinktothelasses.com

I've often wondered about my constant Dew cravings. Now I know why.... INFP.

I think I'm an INFP too. That page describes me almost exactly...almost. But I especially liked the statement:

Many times they will have to rehearse things before they say them.

Haha. You don't know how true this is.

But this is totally not me:

This type is attracted to pun and word games. They are masters at metaphors and similes.

And yes, I like the rain. The sound of rain on a corrugated-tin roof is the best sound in the world...but maybe that's just an MK thing.

People should come with warning labels, sure.

We love you anyway.

You convinced me to take the test. Not sure how I feel about the results.......
ENFJ
Warm, empathetic, responsive, and responsible. Highly attuned to the emotions, needs, and motivations of others. Find potential in everyone, want to help others fulfill their potential. May act as catalysts for individual and group growth. Loyal, responsive to praise and criticism. Sociable, facilitate others in a group, and provide inspiring leadership.

Personally, I think I'm a high maintenance, emotionally charged, commitment-phobe.
Thanks for sharing MB.

Definitely INFP. That marijuana legislation thingy? Right on the mark boyo! :-)

And I'm big on all things esoteric too.

But I don't like the rain. Maybe because when it rains the city tends to be EVEN MORE chaotic than usual. And in Mexico city, that almost reaches surrealistic proportions.

I'm either an INFP or an INTP depending on the test.

I hate rain.

I'm a proud INFJ -- the only descriptor in my trait list that I disagree with is "not competitive." I'm very competitive (just ask my husband), but other than that, it was pretty accurate. And I'm a librarian, which is one of my favored careers.

Hey MB, how about a little love for John Henry? He, Secretariat, and Ruffian round out my top three all-time favorites.

The test is a bunch of hooey! Said I am quiet and my life is organized both at work and at home. Um, nope!

I'm sure that I'm a FOFF. But hey, that's Ok today.

This test is so accurate it's eerie!!!! Except for the rain thing. Nope. Don't like it. I moved to Arizona precisely because I don't like it. Don't like snow either. Or ice, or cold.....that's why I couldn't stay in the midwest anymore.

Everything else: totally, frighteningly accurate!

Having been tagged an INTJ long, long ago, I'm always vaguely interested in new descriptions (and always hope they are a little more flattering than heartless, resourceful and sucks at interpersonal relationships). According to the site you cited - number two in my three job preferences was dictator. You can choose to do that?! Woo! Must be why I am constantly on the lookout for minions.

From Carah: Yes, but MB, it says you'd be great as a librarian!!! :D

I'm an INFP too. I knew we were simpatico from the time I read my first Blonde Champagnee...

My husband is an ISTJ, so we're almost exact opposites. Eh. It works for us!

Well, no wonder I feel so nuts all the time. One percent, eh?

It was funny, when I first did the test, I read the description to my husband. I was all, that's totally not me. He very slowly put his book down and bit his lip.

"Um, hon? Yeah, that's pretty much you." So there you have it!

Thank you - that was really funny.

A belated congratulations on your nuptials! I'm so happy to see you get your heart's desire and the recognition your talent deserves. I'll always think of you as Lady Kenobi ;)

INFPs make up less than 2 percent of the population, but INFJs make up less than 1 percent. I recently became an MBTI practitioner so I'm swimming in this stuff, which as an INFJ, I love. My best friends are INFPs and my husband is an ENFP.
