Dave Barry Mode

I don't have a problem with the modesty dress movement in general or Mormons in particular, but when you're selling a prom dress on your Mormon modesty dress site called "The Lolita"? I'm going to have to go ahead and have a problem with that.

Longtime reader, first time leaver of a comment. Thanks for all of the wonderful posts. Quick question: how does one happen upon a Latter Day Bride website?

"Latter Day Bride?" Really?

I was more impressed with the maternity temple wedding dress, "Jordan River." It very modestly covers the fact that this bride is 6 months pregnant.

Mep,

One heavily procrastinates.

Welcome to the Tasting Room. Many thanks for the kind words, and I hope you comment again.

Like jayne, I'm with you on that one, MB.

Apparently, you can wear something as tight and form-fitting as you like as long as it has cap sleeves. Because everyone know that if a man sees your bare upper arm, he will be driven into a frenzy of lust . . .

Seriously, I'm all for modesty, but there has to be better-looking options.

badly read mormons, apparently...
although this footer to the maternity model "Jordan river" is priceless:
"*Due to availability this dress may take up to 16 weeks to order in."

Or, one finds it when one is looking for a wedding dress with sleeves. Which is why I'm just nodding in recognition, rather than following the link. :)

(And for smc - my understanding is that a temple ceremony may legitimately occur well after the legal marriage, so it's not as mind-bending as it first appears.)

Did they have the "Dennis Rodman" Model? The "Bjork" They considered calling the Lolita, the Vladamir Nabokov instead but figured, no would would really get it. :)

I'm pleased to learn that the Temple ceremony is a 'second ceremony' sort of thing - the alternative explanation was rather sad.

Actually, a lot of their stuff is pretty (although true, hard to see what's especially modest about a lot of them.) It's nice to see a wedding dress that isn't strapless for once. Why, wedding industry?

The big question is how do they get away with using designers names as the names of the dreeses? Kors,Balenciaga,Gucci, Prada? I do think that naming the dreeses after states is pretty funny.
"Dear, your dress is so pretty!"
"Why thank you; it's Massachusetts!"

I think it's a good idea. I hate the way the media sexualizes even young girls. And I've seen some wedding dresses that were downright embarassing - Barbra Streisand's comes to mind. Middle aged, saggy boobs like hers don't need to be put on display like that.

Cuz, I totally think that you, Mrs. Schroer, and I could have put something together that was way better than any of those. BTW, she's no longer called "Lolita", although, I did look and was able to find a "Lola"!
