I don't know what that means.
But I like it. :D
LOL Mike :).
Perhaps MB means we are her support network? ;)
Oh hang on - just saw the "really does get it" bit ... going into the corner with a
"D" cap, now ;).
Apollo 13?
Office Space was what finally gave my husband the courage to ask me on our first date. I'll always love that movie!
ééééééééééé
Has anyone seen my Swingline? ;)
From Carah: In Hawaii, everyone says "bra"-- short for "bruddah". Which you have to say with an Hawaiian accent to make it an understandable abbreviation of "brother." :)
MB,
Now I think I need clarification on the BRA! Were you referencing the under garment that is supportive but sometimes can be extremely uncomfortable in which case you wish to burn us to show your independence. Or was it a nod to the Hawaiian slang that we are all brothers and sisters. Here’s to the shaka!
Good article, as usual! You might have MSNBC check the link from the article back to this website - it wasn't working when I tried it. Have fun moving!
I LOVE Ladyhawke -- one of my all-time favorite movies. I thought my sister and I were the only ones on the planet who knew about it. I'm going to have to go home and watch it tonight (on VHS, of course -- DVD would be far too 21st century for this 80's classic).
Conspicuous by its absence from the list is Titanic. Not that it would make the list any better, but my wife would probably want it there.
If I remember correctly, she has an old VHS copy of Ladyhawke in the house somewhere. I may have to have her dig it out and put it on for me.
I just noted to the MSNBC folks that they have consistently poor editing (and/or writing), even when I like the stories themselves. Your squib on Forget Paris is a prime example.
"Not only does this Billy Crystal-Debra Winger comedy about a couple whose romantic intrigue begins after the wedding, it includes a 45-second tour of Paris for the price of a spot on your Netflix queue."
This is not a sentence, though it could easily have been one. How can I convince my writing students that grammar and editing are important when people get paid to write this loosely?
Your blog is soooo funny, Mary Beth.
And the MSNBC article was great. I'm a bbw model, gainer, and I have the worst times finding bras.
Actually, I am constantly growing out of them.
Check out my myspace site on the link.
Big Girl Love, MB!

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I think mb said we are all her "bras" in reference to her Point Break quip..."Just so you know — just so you’re prepared — Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze, when not dog-hurling, occasionally refer to one another as, quote, 'bra.'"
What I was impressed with, MB, was the tagline after the article about how Mary Beth Ellis and her FIANCE would be spending Valentines Day moving. I always thought it was cool to refer to my now-husband as my fiance. Don't you?
And the link to your Drink to the Lasses... Way to market it, baby!
MB!
Guess what? Your article made the "IMDb Hit List". You probably know this, but IMDb (Internet Movie Database) is the most complete movie site on the web. It's a pretty big deal. And at the end of the home page they list entertainment links for the day. You're there! Woo Hoo!
http://www.imdb.com/
Happy Valentine, BRAS & BATOS, and thanks for the laughs MB.
Anon @ 2:04 PM:
MB's writing transcends mere trifles of the English language like ordinary verbs.
Also, screenshot proof of what stacey said: iMdB. Nice work.
Awesome article, MB. "Office Space" is one of my favorite movies.
Congrats on the IMdB hit list.
Anon,
In the web version, there's a dropped word in that sentence. The original version said:
"Not only does this Billy Crystal-Debra Winger comedy FOLLOW a couple whose romantic intrigue begins after the wedding, it includes a 45-second tour of Paris for the price of a spot on your Netflix queue."
Wish I knew what happened there.
In the past hour or so, I've deleted maybe 15 comments resulting from a troll eruption, so for the time being, I'm making all comments approve-only. I apologize for any inconvenience, my dear The Readers-- please don't let this stop you from commenting. Carry on :)
I literally LOL'd when I hit Ladyhawke on that list. I have half a mind to go find that now.
So many new friends here in the Champagne Tasting Room! Welcome, all, and enjoy a few glasses to the gentle strains of the A-Team Orchestra.
Thanks for weeding out the troll. I, for one, appreciate it very much.
Keep up the good work.
