My famous author-girlfriend

Here's Tink posing with Drink To The Lasses at the Saint Mary's and Notre Dame bookstores. To get her to show me the rest of each campus I had to physically drag her away from the displays or else all she would have done is sat there and stared at her book propped up on the little stands.

The little stands were pretty cool. I think MB was expecting the book to be shoved away in a corner, buried under a stack of other books, but here it is, on a very nice display. Now if only Barnes and Noble would have as much wisdom as SMC and ND...

Your book is displayed along with "What is the What"? This is high commendation indeed. I am duly impressed.

Have I lost my mind, or did "Ribbons" wind up on the cutting room floor?

I guess that's not an either/or question, but whatever. Depending on which thermometer you look at, the temperature here is somewhere between -2ยบ and HOLY CRAP, so I'm going through about a ten-gallon Slurpee brain freeze.

Also, it could be worse: Water pipes burst this morning at the Hesburgh Library (the "Touchdown Jesus" building for you non-ND-centric readers), damaging 1500 books.

They still had classes today though, the troopers. Almost all local schools are shut down indefinitely.

Who cares that ND still had classes if the library flooded. I mean, I'm upset that all those books were damaged, but that doesn't mean class should be called off.

Perhaps I'm just bitter about my senior year at SMC when ND had classes cancelled for two days because of weather and we SMC chicks still had to go to class.

jtp--don't you mean your famous author-fiance??

Congrats, mb, you definitely deserve all the prominence in the world : )

missdirected, I'm totally with you. In my 4 years of college, there was only one snow day: a Friday on which I had no classes scheduled, but I still had to go to work. Totally bites.

weather is pretty crappy down here too Mike. But here, people are DELIGHTED when snow falls up in the mountains, the amazement of the unuasual I guess... I hope it stays that way.

missdirected - Don't say for a second you are bitter about your senior year at SMC... once it is over, it is gone FOREVER! Enjoy every second, even if you have to attend those pesky classes. I would go back in a second, this so called "real-world" is not all it is cracked up to be...

WOW!! You look wonderful and your book displays look great. I haven't been to SMC since the old books store and there was never enough room in that thing. I am so proud of you.

Also, I remember having to trek through that snow senior year when ND was closed. I believe we were real troopers. So sorry to hear about ND's books. Does that mean thier tuition is going up?

recentlymarried,
Yes, she's my fiancee, but that's only temporary. She'll always be my girlfriend, even when we're married, so I still call her that, and I always will. Unfortunately, many couples cease being boyfriend/girlfriend after they get married, but that will not be the case with us. I have promised MB I will not stop courting her after we're married. I will still ask her out on dates. I will never take it for granted when she lets me hold her hand, I will be thrilled every time she kisses me, and I will savor every hug from her.
I know some of you who are already married are thinking how naive I am. I have only two words for you: Watch us. :-)

Actually, this married woman was too busy saying, "Awwww" (sniff)

I always melt when I hear an old fella calling his wife his bride. This is the epitome of romance to me. Y'all are SOO cute together, dang it! ;)

jtp,

I looked back and realized that comment sounded a little snotty-I apologize.

I definitely do think it's very sweet and am not the least bit skeptical that the two of you will continue to share your love long after you are married.

The fiance comment was because both my husband and I took a little while to refer to each other by the "proper" moniker, and we always laughed when we made our mistakes together. It didn't happen often, but we saw it as growing into that next step together--that being engaged doesn't change who you are. Nonetheless, I was teasing the wrong person, and I apologize : )

MB said...

Awwww, that was so nice of you. Thanks, rm.

jtp- that was the most disgustingly sweet thing i've ever read. aww!
mb- wow! congrats! i can't imagine how wonderful it feels to see your book there.

and not to distract from the glory of 'dttl' but can someone please explain what is displayed just below? Namely "Sportswear Clearance Days: Pantalaine... unisex snap trainers" Whu-what?

MB said...

Oh, you're not alone there. Still don't know what that thing is. I was afraid to even pick it up off the display.

recentlymarried,
Don't worry, no offense taken. I didn't think your original comment was snotty. What I was trying to communicate in my response was that nothing has changed between us simply because we're engaged, so I still call MB my girlfriend, and I don't consider it wrong or a mistake to not refer to her as my fiancee.
I apologize if you felt hammered. MB is helping me recognize that I tend to do that to people even when they're only teasing. Isn't she great? :-)

You didn't hammer me at all. Look at us being all polite and courteous in this little online community.

let's call it happy with no offense taken on any side : )

I love reading everyday and am glad to have stopped "lurking." Keep up the good work!

MB said...

I'm glad you're no longer lurking either! (happy sigh)

Okay-I love love love the black dress with the shrug. You look amazing in it.

MB said...

Oh, thank you so much! But it's actually a skirt and top. I'm very glad that the twenty minutes I spent staring at the two of them from various angles making sure they were same kind of black was worth it. It's all about the separates, baby.

tamar said...

LOL! I generally spend about that much time doing the same thing. You did awesome, I thought it was the 'lil' black dress too!
