Uhmm, I hate to bother you with my petty problems on such a monumental occasion, but I'm trying to purchase Drink to the Lasses via the Cold Press website, and uhm... it seems it won't ship books to other countries outside the US. Any ideas what I can do?

How FANTABULOUS!

Well, like we didn't see THAT one coming....but still, very very fantabulous.

May you have a long and happy life together, with much fun, family, faith and fulfillment.

Girlie moment: the ring is very pretty - I love simple settings like that - but I can't quite see what the stone is - I'm assuming it's a diamond, but the shading in the photo makes it look more like a sapphire...? Either way, it's lovely. I have a Thing for sapphires. Also for diamonds. Heck, I like anything that sparkles.

Which I am sure you are both doing right now. CONGRATS.

Yay! This means we will have MB up our way in Virginia!!!

Oh, yeah, and congrats to the both of you!!!

Josh The Pilot said...

Yes, it's a sapphire. I knew Mary Beth was The One when she told me she didn't want a diamond for an engagement ring.
I had the ring custom-made while I was in Oklahoma City. I checked out Zales and Kay, but everything in my price range seemed so fake and impersonal. Mary Beth (as you all know) deserves much better than that. I found a jeweler who cut me a great deal when I told him how special MB is but that I don't have much money for a ring because of how much the FAA pays me as a trainee.

Congratulations!!!!!!!

Many many congratulations! Here's a drink to the lass and the lad!

Congratulations Mary and Josh!

JTP:

The ring is lovely.

When we got engaged, he asked my dad for my grandmother's (his mother's) ring.

Dave paid about $25 to have it sized and the band fixed.

But it's the only ring I could have imagined, and even though it's not big or flashy, I've gotten more compliments on it than anything.

I believe that's because it's so special.

Just like MB's.

I'm so happy for you both!

Yea!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations MB!! I'm so happy for you!

WOW! God bless you, kids!

I thought it was a sapphire when I saw - I too have a blue sapphire, and I get lots of compliments on it. I thought people would not recognize it as an engagement ring, but I was happy to discover they did!

Congratulations to both of you :-)

Anonymous said...

MB and JTP, congratulations! "Mr. and Mrs. The-Pilot." That has a nice ring to it. Speaking of rings, what a beautiful choice!

Anonymous said...

Congrats!

Of course we wish you guys the best.

*Reverts into super-girlie mode*
Soooo...what happened? Were you expecting it? What did he say?...

But, I understand if that's private, too. Although, I do think we would be be a tiny bit bummed...

Anonymous said...

Yay! So excited for you! Congrats!

Anonymous said...

oh heavenly father, thou art so great, as to give MB cause to publish her honeymoon pictures... in a bathing suit...

I'm sending you a mime from my personal collection to work your wedding.

Aww! Congratulations. Even though I don't know you guys, I am very happy for you. I've really enjoyed reading about your life over the past year.

Best wishes to you!

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best wishes, MB! Congratulations, Josh!

(I learned from Gilmore Girls that you say "Best wishes" to the bride and offer "congratulations" to the groom. Who said no one ever learned anything from TV??)

And the ring is gorgeous! Oh my gosh, I'm so excited! I'm so excited for people I have never even met! But yay anyway!

Anonymous said...

WAHOO!!

Anonymous said...

What a gorgeous ring -- all the best to you both!

Anonymous said...

But I thought that what we had was so special .... Suddenly the victories, adulation and upcoming bowl game seem so hollow. How can I summon the strength to go on?

Anonymous said...

Brady... You've got much, MUCH bigger problems, babe.

To Mr. Quinn: She's mine, dude.

Oh my GOD, congratulations honey!

Anonymous said...

MB, you lucky girl! And JTP, you lucky guy!
I told my boyfriend a while ago that I want a sapphire for an engagement ring and he thinks I'm completely nuts. Something about people thinking he's cheap because he didn't get me a diamond. I told him he should be more worried about making me happy than about what other people think. I've never been one to do what everyone else does, I love blue, and a sapphire is so much prettier that a plain white diamond. (though a diamond accent would be ok).
Congrads!

Well, this is enought to bring me out of a couple years of lurking... :)
Congratulations to you both!

And I'm sending him the link to this post so he can read the comments and see that I'm not the only one!

Anonymous said...

Congrats! You have to put the video of the wedding on youtube so we can all see how great you look!

Anonymous said...

Nicely done JTP. It seems you've made her speechless. (Don't stay silent for too long though MB.)

Anonymous said...

Congratulations to both of you! That's a great ring, JtP... in fact it's down right brilliant :D

Big congrats from a long time reader! I actually squealed (quietly, of course) at work when I saw the picture. Is your new name going to be Mary Beth the Pilot? Or just Mary Beth Pilot?

Anonymous said...

Oh congrats :) I too think sapphire rings are better than diamond. I never thought I'd be so happy for someone I don't even know.

Anonymous said...

Congratulations!!! It's funny, I feel like I know a little family here online, and we all get to celebrate!

SassyQuack said...

YAY! Congrats to you both. MB...please don't keep us waiting too long for the story!

Oh--and I read your book on my business trip last week. It was fabulous!! When is the next one coming out?

Anonymous said...

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

That's so lovely. Congrats both!

Anonymous said...

it does feel like a little bit of a family, and i echo that i never thought i'd be so happy for someone i'd never met. congratulations and best wishes. may your marriage be many times more happy than this very moment : )

Anonymous said...

Okay, congratulations and yadda yadda yadda, but I just want to say. Dan and I got to see it first!!! I've been bursting to say that. JTP showed us the absolutely gorgeous ring when he was on his way. Then we were left hanging in suspense. Way to go Josh... ;) I think you guys will be very good for each other. many felicitations.

Anonymous said...

I appreciate your feelings for JTP, but have you considered polyandry? I really think we can make this work.

Josh The Pilot said...

Thanks everyone for the compliments on my ring selection! I've never subscribed to the lie put out by the jewelry industry that a diamond is the only way to go for an engagement ring. The whole "three month's salary" thing is an even bigger lie. Of course I'm not going to say exactly how much I paid for MB's ring, but I will say I could easily afford it even on $8.50/hr pay, and look what I got!!
Concerning MB's name, she will always be the sweet and beautiful Tink. :)

Anonymous said...

That's right, it's about the sentiment, not the dollar value.

OSA said...

OMG, congrats to both of you!!

Anonymous said...

OMG! I go on vacation and I miss this!?!?! And you were in town too??? Will you still be back for Christmas?

Best wishes and congratulations to both of you!! I am so happy for you!

Now, I'll have to go catch up on what else I may have missed, then I reserve the right to comment further. ;-)

Anonymous said...

I'll be home in mid-December, Shannyboat. We will definitely get together then so I can show it off in person :)

Everyone.... thank you so very much for your kind congrats!

Anonymous said...

Awesome! I was afraid I missed my chance to catch up. I can't wait to see it (and you of course) in person. I'm sure it's fantastic. How many times a day do you find yourself admiring it? I caught myself doing that all the time.

I'm finding all sorts of news trickling in that I missed. I was only gone for 8 days people. Did I forget to tell everyone to put their lives on hold?? Shouldn't that little mail hold slip at the Post Office cover these sorts of things??? ;-)

What wonderful, beautiful news to come home to!

Anonymous said...

Congratulations. You two kids couldn't be sweeter -- I am really happy for you. You've made my day, in fact. What about that? Also, I'm flying from Miami to DC tonight and I'm feeling pretty safe because I know JTP is guiding me in...

Anonymous said...

anna pink, let us know the next time you're in DC :)
