The Totally Official FAQ Post

We're gathering more and more new readers (I know, it's all about the polar ice caps melting) and so I'm working on an FAQ, both for BlondeChampagne as well as Drink To The Lasses. Anything you want A'd? You know, that you Q on an F basis?

This will be a "rolling post" that I'll update as the questions come in over the weekend, so check back with it. The post loves you tooooooooo!

Ok, so since obviously I haven't read the book, so it probably answers my question, but here it goes:

During your college years, who was the teacher you feel had the biggest, most profound influence in your life? You know, the one that truly deserved the term "mentor"...

Oooooh, good one, RPJ :)

After graduation, when did you learn how much you had absorbed from your most despised class?
What do you remember most from your first registration?
How can the bang situation be addressed?

Anonymous said...

Those are all much in need of addressing, particularly the issue of the bangs. I may need to bring in an international negotiator on that one.

Is Josh a totally great kisser?

Like I'd be dating him if he weren't.

What comfort food does JTP most resemble?
What is your favorite part of speech?
What drives you crazy about student essays?
What word would you like to eliminate from student essays?
What is your favorite word?
What part of the space shuttle do you most resemble?

What drives me crazy the most about student essays is that they exist.

Where hot dogs are concerned: Yes I would eat myself, if it meant I would no longer have to grade student essays.

Okay, mine is this: sometimes you've mentioned wombats in a very funny context (it is an inherently funny word and animal after all :)) ... from whence did this love of the wombat-word usage and the love of Aussie wine originally stem? :)

PS: We've just bought a house and moved into it and switched internet packages in the process, so I've been without internet access for a couple of weeks and have missed reading you! It's nice to be back and swimming in all the Blonde Champagne posts again :).

Aw, I've missed you too! Glad you're back.

Wombats actually make an appearance or two in DttL, now that I think of it. I find the poor little things highly unsung as comic foils. Just say it: "Wombat!" Don't you feel better about life in general?

That they are Aussie only adds to their grandeur. I've actually had a crush of Australia for quite some time that was cemented by joy, beauty, and friendliness of the 2000 Olympics, which very much stand overall as my favorite Summer Games. Matter of fact, my graduate lecture, about writing workshops, was called "Waltzing Matilda for Student Writers: How To Have a Lovely Workshop Journey." So, then, when I became a wine snob, it simply followed that I should have a predilition for Black Opal.

Predilition - MB's SAT word for the day. Or perhaps I should say her "I'm an MFA" word for the day. Hey, that ryhmes. :)

Anonymous said...

Or, you know, "prediliction."

Anonymous said...

Prediliction, schmediliction; I was promised a rolling post, and thus far there's been a distinct lack of rollage.

Weren't you checking the comments?

That's a good question, ahjen7. A few of my former students do know about the blog (they found by Googling my name, and if you are *that* bored with life, then have at it) but I'm very open about my life anyway, plus there's no hiding what I've revealed in my book(s.) I do strive for a bit of anonymity, however, by not naming where I teach and never EVER singling out any one student--I LIKE my job, plus it's just not cool to write about my classes that way.

A friend and I were commenting that our lives sometimes had better drama than some of the books we have read. What book (or other arts medium with a title) would you say describes your life best so far?

Anonymous said...

Is there a book or painting entitled "Why Am I Almost 30 And Still Have Zits"?

Jenib said...

No, but there is one titled, "It's My Ovaries, Stupid" that seems pretty close to my story (LOL).
