Horrible Thought Of the Day

I am now three years older than the oldest Friend on Friends when Friends debuted.

Also: New content on DrinkToTheLasses.com. The book should be at Barnes and Noble soon. But don't get it there. Get it here. It's cheaper. Plus I get more royalties. See, I'm all about you, and your needs.

Do you mean the characters or the actors? 'Cause a quick check on iMDB says that Lisa Kudrow was born in 1963, making her about 31 when "Friends" started in 1994.

Of course, I won't mention that three of the actors were under 27. Sshhhhhhhh.

The characters. Ross was 26 in the pilot, OMG.

Well, okay, now that we have that nailed down, when exactly is the drop date for DttL? And if I order it now, will I get it in advance?

It's been out for a week. How well it sells online depends on when it will be in brick-and-mortar stores. I'm working on getting into ND's and SMC's bookstores before the end of football season.

Well, I suppose I ought to get off my duff and buy it then, even though I have a galley proof copy. :)

I got mine the day before yesterday from The Fed-Ex Man. I'm on chapter 11, and don't worry, you guys, it's gooood.

Mike, you should buy it, and put the galley-proof copy stored on a safe vault. I suspect that in the future, it will be a matter of hot debate between your descendants when your will is read

-I can't believe Jimmy got the "Drink to the Lasses" original galley-proof copy, and all I got was the lousy Benz!!! ;-)

I didn't want to wait for Christmas so I ordered a copy of DttL last Friday from Coldtree Press. It was shipped on Monday and UPS brought it to my door Wednesday afternoon. We were having dinner guests so I didn't get to start reading until after they left. I got most of the way done Thursday evening then finished it up this morning. It is a good read, short chapters. I found myself wanting "just one more story" before needing to put it down to take care of some distraction. Now JTP will have to think of something else to give me for Christmas :) Good job MB. When's the sequel coming?

Hey MB - I got the book yesterday! I started it, but we're getting ready for Sean's 2nd birthday party this weekend, so I'm not getting to spend as much time with it as I'd like yet. Loving it so far! As soon as I get through this party, I'll be all over it. Congratulations!!!!

Uh, RPJ, galley proof copies aren't always, er, bound. Sometimes they're electronic.

Oh yeah, MB, that's reeeally horrible. Hello, do you even know your audience?

I'm old enough to be your father's father's father's great granddaughter's son.

Yessirree.

Mmm hmmm.

Daayyuumm.

I can't believe how many of you have ordered DttL. Wow, that's amazing-- I thank you so much.

Especially Mother of Josh The Pilot. You're still letting your son hang around me after reading that?

Oh, on the Friends thing--are you sure Ross was 26 in the pilot? Because later in season 1, Monica's 26 (when she sleeps with the 17-year-old). So I guess I'm either trying to make you feel better or pointing out plotholes in Friends--and the 2nd job could take all day.

I just saw the pilot, and that's what prompted the post-- so I guess this is just lazy writing, or perhaps we have another case of Skywalker Twin Syndrome here. (Should've known-- the very first time Monica sees Ross on-screen, she calls him "sweetie." And the entire series, she would sit in his lap every now and then at the coffee shop, which... just... ew.)

By far the best character in Friends... was the monkey.

I had an Oh-my-God-I'm getting-old moment while watching an episode of Full House late one night. And for the record, I don't usually watch Full House, but I was up late with the baby and it was either that or QVC. Moving onward.

The episode during the second season (season determined by dating the age of the Olsen twins) featured Danny's birthday. Okay...despite the distracting height of Jesse's mullet *shudder*, I was shocked and appalled when I realized that the birthday Danny was celebrating was *drum roll* 30! That's right folks! 30. And Jesse was 24! Holy freakin' cow!

NOOOOOOOOO! But Danny Tanner was always so OLD!

Hey MB - finished the book even before Sean's party. I had to stay up late after all the cleaning, decorating, and food preparation, but I just couldn't put it down. Fantastic!!!! Loved it!

And the party went off without a hitch! I can't believe my little man is 2. *sob*

Oh, thank you for ordering and reading that whole thing... *I* can't believe you're the mama of a two year old. When did this happen to the Class of 95?!

ShannJ said...

Of course I read it - now I'm anxiously awaiting the next one! No pressure. ;-)

I can't believe it either - guess that means we're officially growing up - or maybe just getting OLD.
