Hi Baby!

Remember Schnitzel?

Yeah. Still pending.

We are past the official due date now, and although my niece or nephew is head-down in what I like to call "the launch position" (Nick the NASA Poobah prefers "holding short of the runway"), we are going nowhere for several days.

Jim The Small Child Nephew continues to prepare for big brotherhood by maintaining his doll baby in a full stage of undress at all times. My sister attempted to clothe the poor child once, and Jim threw a fit. There is no need to be concerned; I kept my dolls naked all the time too, and look how well I turned out.

Sometimes he tenderly feeds the naked baby and escorts it about town in a stroller; sometimes he pushes it in a swing, maintaining a gentle arc of 180 degrees while yelling "Wheeeeee!" And then when he gets bored he piledrives the baby and announces, "Done." I see this going very well.

Today, however, he placed his hand on my sister's stomach and felt his sibling rustling around in there. Then he announced, "I'll show the baby! This is the bus!" and ran one of his toy buses over where most of the kicking was. Enjoy making that bus your own while it lasts, kid.

where is everybody

I'm here. Just busy. I have a Schnitzel of my own on the way in March, which means my official bedtime is now whenever I sit down in the recliner. Fell asleep at 6:45 last night and didn't wake up until 5 this morning. I know these days won't last...

Keep us posted on Schnitzel's (pending) arrival! I hope everything goes well. Jim the Child Nephew will be a good big brother, and you will continue to be a great aunt.

"where is everybody"

What am I? Chopped liver?

I'm here. You just don't know me. I'm one of your many lurkers (read: stalkers). (I'm the one w/the topless newspaper shot from yesterday's comments.)

I'm harmless. I swear. ;-)

I read every (week)day! Just don't always have a comeback or comment that is worthy of this, your hallowed blog.

(i actually just wondered if I could really type Schnitzel...)

Come on babykins!! I'll never be cleared by the government to procreate so I just enjoy the excitement of other people's kids

Oh, dear anon, you know you are at LEAST chopped sirloin. It's the absence of the named regulars that has me worried. I was wondering if I was, like, smelling all of a sudden.

Maybe it's just the angle of the photo, or when it was actually taken, but your sister looks remarkably "not that pregnant" for someone who is already past her due date.

Is she one of those real lucky ducks who lose 98% of the baby weight within 45 seconds after delivery and then appears as if she hasn't been within 100 miles of a maternity ward 2 days later.....??

In any case - get along, little doggieschnitzel! Time's a'wastin!

:-)

Julie is a beautiful woman who is "all baby," jules, but it's not because of good luck. This picutre is only about a week old. She gained a mere 17 pounds with Schitzel by watching her diet and hitting the gym as often as she could. Plus, she has the 24 Hour Workout By Jim, who weighs well over thirty pounds now. Aunt Beth, on the other hand, gets exhausted by getting up off the couch to find the remote.

That photo is adorable... is Jim the small child nephew wearing a toddler version of lederhosen(sp?)

Well... he IS German...

Have the baby naked is better than Jim insiting that he be naked all the time - or maybe that phase is coming or already passed. I remember both of my younger sisters going through that phase. At home all we could keep on them was a diaper.

"I was wondering if I was, like, smelling all of a sudden."

-Well, I wasn't going to say anything, but since you wondered...

BTW, it's me. Topless 5 year old again. Just thought I'd let you know how much I love reading your blog. Don't ever shut up. You make my work day bearable. (OK, chessy love fest over. Back to the snark.)

Man, I remember the last pregnancy of my sister VerĂ³nica. Because of her back the doctor ordered absolute rest.

ABSOLUTE.

So she went to stay with my parents, and every morning asked me and her husband to carry her sitting on an office chair down the stairs, and then every single night we had to repeat the ritual. Picture it: the carrying of a pregnant 5-foot-8 woman sitting on a chair through a 17-step, 47" wide stairs. The fun part was when one of us lost balance in the middle of it!

So I made her swear that before even ENTERTAINING the idea of having another child, she must have MY permission first... and give me enough time in advice to train in the gym for the ordeal!

Still here Mb! Raining like crazy down here too...

PS: BTW Jim is definitely heading to become a true Heart-Breaker :-)

Funny. We've been going through some similar stuff with my best friend's little Tauflingschnitzel. (I like his birth name better. MUCH better. Click my name above for details.)

A recent sonogram showed he was in the breech position. So a C-section was scheduled for later this week. With that nailed down, the parents-to-be decided to relax and take in Pirates II Sunday night. So of course, Baby decides he wants out NOW and makes them leave the movie halfway through and go to the hospital.

The C-section surgeon is called, things are prepped, everything's ready, and a final sonogram reveals that Baby has . . . moved into the launch position.

Well.

Cancel the C-section (Mother is evidently a high-risk for infection, thus C-sections are off-limits unless absolutely necessary), plug Mommy with an epidural and an IV of labor-inducers, and Baby still needed about a day to show up.

He was technically a week early. I was hoping for about 18 days early so his birthday and mine would match, but his arrival is plenty enough of a present. Again, click for details.

So, it's not like I wasn't around you because you reek, MB. In fact, I'm sure you smell like a mixture of lavender and Dom Perignon, even after a hour's rollerblading. :)

I should probably include a perma-link for what I'm talking about, and not just to my front page.

I'm so glad little Orion is OK! I will tell Julie to take in Pirates II. (Can't say that I blame the kid. I'd want out of that too.)

You know, I really like the name Julie.

I wonder why.

I'm still here and I think this post is beautiful :).

Just had a very busy week (and not much time to comment) on a nursing clinical placement practising (for the very first time on actual patients) subcutaneous and intramuscular injections and IV therapy, oh my!! :)

The photo of Jim is so cute and for some strange reason makes me want to put on a hat and knee socks and perform a kind of knee slapping dance ;).

Many happy Aunty days to you, MB, with Jim and the new little bublet when it finally pops out, too :) x

PS: Buggar ... "t" is me: for some reason the computer didn't automatically, as it usually does, fill in "hebuxomwench" after that as well :)x

"Bublet" is my new favorite Aussie Word of the Day :)

Ok, a little late, but I am still here. Unfortunately, the evil powers that be at work decided that the comments section on blogspot is not productive material, and took away our access, and that is where I spend most of my time online. I can read the posts, but I can't comment. Grr. Sean keeps me on my toes in the evenings, so I rarely get any online time to catch up! I'm reading all the time though. I haven't abandoned ship!!!!
