Taufling is going to be a big brother...that's so awesome. Or at least I think that's what his t-shirt means...it's been a busy weekend.

Congrats and I hope this was a very happy birthday for you...

Happy Birthday MB!

MB,
Your parents must be so proud that you managed to flip everyone in the nursery off at such a young age.

Yeah, Happy Birthday, MB.

When you have one child, you have one. When you have two, you have twelve. Congratulations to you AND your sister! Drink heartily- and have one for her! When is she due?

And tell us ALL about it!

btw, where IS Josh the Pilot- did I miss something?

Congratulations on the "big brother" news. How exciting.
On another topic, are you really practicing your middle finger salute in your baby picture? I can't figure it out. It's either that or the "blonde power" fist...

Addendum to previous post. I just realized that you are four years younger than I am. After reading your bog, I am ashamed that I have done nothing with my life near as interesting or life affirming as yours. Psychosis and neurosis does not count as artistic expression anymore. In light of that, I have had to go back to school to complete my degree in screwing with the citizen psyches...muahhaaa! Oh crap, I rambled. Amy, it's your fault!

You missed one -- your birth occured in the same month as Jimmy Carter's inauguration. Your life will forever be connected to killer rabbits, the word "malaise", and long gas lines.

Now I have an irrestible urge to make the comment "There you go again" to every single post on this blog.

1977? Oh No MB! It's time to start counting backwards. JK I hope you have a great, catastrophe free birthday!

Thank you so much for the good wishes, everyone. As you can see, it was indeed a good day. The body count remained relatively low.

Happy Birthday Mary Beth! You forgot one other good thing that came about in 1977 - ME!! It was a good year wasn't it!? Anyway, congrats on upcoming aunthood again! That's so awesome. Tell Julie I said congrats as well! And, just to make us feel even older, my little sister got married on Saturday. Sean got to be part of the offetory procession, and he looked absolutely adorable, if I do say so myself! Hope you had a great day. I would have gotten in touch with you sooner, but I spent yesterday sick, afraid to move off the couch. Maybe I took your bad luck this year! ;)

Shannyboat,
How great to hear from you-- I'm so glad you said hi. I meant to tell you that I visited your website and saw all the pictures of adorable Sean. Is your house done yet?

Actually, you are in charge of New Year's Eve bad luck. When I visted with you guys when you were down here for the bowl game, I ran over a raccoon on the way back to my apartment. Perhaps the karma is whipping back around to you :) Feel better and congrats on the new in-laws!

I just found your blog after reading your comments on Severus Snape and Teaching Evaluations. Great stuff. As a fellow laborer in the vineyard of Correct English, I chuckled merrily about your accounts of teaching the unteachable, and of their ultimate revenge in the annual (twice annual here in the Frozen North) evaluation smearfest. As I say to the most ardent of my students, "Keep Up the Good Work!" (from Dr. Carol, also a teacher of superior standing, at least in my OWN evaluation.)

Hey! I've been such a slacker on my website. I didn't even think I'd updated since Sean was born. We did finish the house! Yay! We closed 8 days before the little man's 1st birthday party. We got to have a big party here at the house. Fun times! You'll have to come visit the next time you're in town. Anyway, it's good to know I'm in charge of some sort of bad karma. :) I don't think anything too bad happened this year. I can't believe it's been so long since we were there. Scott wanted to go back to spring training, but we're planning a trip to Hawaii, so I don't think I can handle two vacations this year. Hopefully soon, right? I'll have to send you some pictures soon. Keep the stories coming! I could use lots of laughs, especially when I'm at work!

2xgtld,
I'm now working in New Orleans doing Katrina cleanup, but I managed to get time off for a trip back to Florida for MB's b-day. We had a great time, including dinner at Outback and watching Tristan & Isolde, which wasn't nearly as bad as the critics say it is. Then yesterday before I left we watched Ryan the Rocket Scientist and friends launch a missile (see pics by following the link on my blog) and then I lovingly endured the mall to buy m'lady some professor clothes and a nice dress.

Josh the Pilot-

You rock- shopping and all! My husband shops with me and doesn't jangle his keys too much as I debate between taupe, beige and tan...

Oh my Gosh! It took me a while, looking at the picture, trying to decipher if it was younger version of you I was staring at, or actually Jim The Baby Nephew, and then, upon reading the incredibly obvious words printed on his shirt, I finally got it! (He looks incredibly like you, by the way.) Congrats to both of you! Makes me almost wanna have a third. Wait, never mind. It's the margaritas talking. ;)

When I wonder if I'm getting old, I like having you remind me you're always going to be 3½ years older.

Happy belated, and all that.
